Lead in Drinking Water – Moving Beyond Regulation to Protect Public Health
Speaker Bio:
Deborah M. Watkins, P.E., Director of Water Quality and Environmental Compliance for Aqua America, is responsible for monitoring and evaluating water quality data, and managing Aqua’s Compliance Assurance Program (CAP) to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and other regulatory requirements. Ms. Watkins received her BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University and her MS degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Villanova University. She is a registered professional engineer in PA, VA, NJ, DE, and MD.
Topic 2:
Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances in Drinking Water – How the discovery of these compounds in regional sources informs a national discussion of unregulated substances in drinking water.
Chuck Hertz is manager of laboratory and research at Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. He has been with Aqua for 26 years where he directs the efforts of the water quality laboratory in Bryn Mawr. He received a B.S. degree from Elizabethtown College, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Drexel University. Over the years, Chuck has been involved with many committees and workgroups related to water quality and laboratory issues. He was Chair of the Water Quality Laboratory Committee of the American Water Works Association and currently serves on the Journal Editorial Board of the Journal AWWA.
