Environmental Justice: A Case Study from CCMUA

 Andy Kricun

Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority

Andrew Kricun currently serves as the Executive Director and Chief Engineer of the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority, operators of an 80 million gallon per day wastewater treatment plant in Camden, NJ.   Mr. Kricun has over 25 years of experience in environmental engineering.   He graduated with honors from Princeton University, with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  Mr. Kricun also has a professional engineering license in Civil Engineering and is a Board Certified Environmental Engineer as well.   He currently serves as the co-Chair of the Water Environment Federation's Environmental Management Systems Committee and the vice-Chair of its Sustainable Utilities Task Force.

The presentation will discuss the opportunities that a water or wastewater utility operating in an economically distressed community has to make a positive difference for the residents of that community.   The focus will be on  CCMUA's operations in Camden, one of the poorest cities in America. The presentation will present CCMUA'a position that it not only a moral imperative for agencies/utilities to do their best to make a positive difference, but it is also a wise business practice as well.

To All Licensed Professional Engineer's:  This seminar does qualify for 1.0 Professional Development Hour (PDH).  A Certificate of Attendance will be available on site for AWRA-PMAS members only.  The meeting price for non-members who wish to receive a 2011 Certificate of Attendance for the PDH is $10.00 ($3.00 for meeting + $7.00 for certificate).
